Anime Summer 2024 Weekly Ranking October 11th to October 17th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering October 11th to October 17th.

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Bleach. Ep. 2

Oh wow. Ichigo unable to control himself and killing the soul king was unexpected but well executed. Super cool fight as well, it really made Ichigo look far more powerful than ever and, in turn, it made Yhwach look incredible as well. The fights this entire arc have been amazing and they will only get better. I can’t wait to see Ichigo fight more, to see some more awesome bankai’s and, most of all, to see Aizen return.

3. Re:ZERO. Ep. 3

Brutal for Subaru but MVP Beatrice this episode for saving everyone including him. The city has been taken over as well so we’re sure to have some fights incoming but with so many sins present I wonder how difficult the fight will be. Now. Now. Subaru, and everyone else, hear me out. First, yes, save Emilia. But after, why not give old lady wrath a chance? Crazy girls can be fun, but unfortunately it seems it will only end with an endless loop of painful deaths for Subaru in this case. I doubt this arc will be the entire season, though it could be, but I look forward to how the sins will be dealt with. Greed seems powerful and the others are no joke. Good luck Subaru, the incoming deaths are going to be brutal.

2. DAN DA DAN. Ep. 3

Oh man grandma Ayase is a looker, please ruin my life. As soon as she revealed the idols secrets I believed them as well, there was a hint of nervousness in his eyes that revealed there was truth to it. Ken’s training arc has also been cut short due to a threat from turbo granny, but this has only sparked the fire in Momo. I look forward to the fight, the dynamic duo will have to get creative to snag victory in this one.

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

4. Demon Lord 2099. Ep. 1

This has been my favorite opening episode of the season so far. The concept is interesting, the return well done, the animation was great and the voice acting awesome. I’m a huge Sci-Fi fan so I was looking forward to this show since seeing it on list, but this episode does make me look forward to the rest of the reason. At first, I wondered about Velvet, questioning whether this is a character I can support, or just someone I must watch from afar with interested eyes like Ainz from Overlord, which shares the same voice actor as Ainz, neat. That final scene, with Velvet thanking Machina for her loyalty made me instantly like him and want to support him. Man, great, great episode. Really hope the rest of the season holds up. Also, OST was nice.

6. Blue Box. Ep. 4

Taiki is very serious about his results which can end with some awkward conversations but his intentions are pure. Understanding why he wishes to do so would help both sides but I understand why he doesn’t want to put such pressure on Chinatsu. We see his first singles match and I hope he wins, he has a great prize in store should he do so.

5. Ranma 1/2. Ep. 2

I really like the opening. Is Ranma best girl and boy? We'll look to the polls for that one but for now I must say that Akane fighting off the entire boy student body of the school every morning is one of those wacky ideas that make older manga and anime so endearing. Many hate the old the running gags and storylines, but I find many to still be amusing. For now, Ranma and Akane want nothing to do with each other, and more love interest are soon to show so I look forward to how everything transpires. Two episodes, so far very good, very nice.

7. Dragon Ball DAIMA. Ep. 1

It’s here and we start off with an absolute treat, reanimated scene from the Buu saga. Seeing those brought a tear to my eye because the animation and art style in this anime is stellar. Most of the episode focuses on setting up the villains and some cool lore about the demon realm and Namekians. The first episode is enjoyable and I look forward to what more this has in store for us. Just realized we haven’t seen Gohan either, hope we see him for at least a moment as he is also going to be a kid again.

B: Good/Solid

8. Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii. Ep. 2

Yoshino ending up in crazy situations will be the driving force of the plot for the season. As much as she may want to avoid it, selling her kidney was just the start. Also, she did sell it; I thought she was lying for a moment. Kirishima also showed monstrous strength this episode. A look into his history is supplemented by the current beatdown he delivered but it also left Yoshino shocked by it. Overall, good episode.

10. If My Wife Became an Elementary School Student. Ep. 3

Ok, ok, still on the wholesome route. Good, good. I liked this episode, the idea of moving on after losing a significant other is a difficult one to address and a difficult choice to make. The children’s perspective is also brought which is very important as it can affect them just as much. The episode handled the topic well, allowing for everyone to convey their emotions and having a heartfelt resolution that they all agreed to. Many will never give this show a chance because they immediately deem it the worst, but so far it’s been nice.

12. Blue Lock. Ep. 2

I can hear them, the masses making fun of the animation of Blue Lock. Like last season, it was to be expected. What do I think? Meh, I’ve seen worse, much worse. I also put up with the entire season 3 of slime, so this is already more fun. As for the episode, it was fun which is what I want from this show. The four stars showing why their leaps and bounds above everyone else was nice, but my favorite moment was Isagi realizing he’s going to thrive off negativity. Me too Isagi, me too.

9. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction. Ep. 15

New girl?! Who doesn’t love a friendly gyaru. Of course, there is some tension given the outgoing nature extrovert clashing with the nature of an introvert, but the group is able to make compromise. Now, they did allude to Kisaki’s backstory and it seems interesting from the little snippet we did get. I look forward to it but once again, I must say, not enough Mikari.

11.

Negative Positive Angler. Ep. 3

Oh boy, good ol Forex. I cant speak on the effectiveness or validity of the trade, but I do remember the peak of Forex commercialization and wonder where most who indulged are now as statistically most are doomed to fail. Sasaki just so happened to be one of those who failed, fortunately he’s found some very kind people who are nice enough to help him in his time of need. I hope he reveals his condition soon, and I hope Hana gets to eat as much fish as she likes forever.

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

13. Loner Life in Another World. Ep. 4

Wonder if the jocks will have to fight eventually, they’re good guys at least but the delinquents are sure to cause trouble. Haruka continues to do whatever he pleases, though I’ll admit he’s creative with his powers. By the end we reach the town at last, will Haruka stay with the girls or return to his lovely home? Stay tuned!

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you not watch for various issues.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
