Anime Winter 2024 Weekly Ranking February 7th to February 13th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering February 7th to February 13th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 2. Ep. 5

Iku is here! Welcome to the family you degenerate, we wouldn’t have it any other way. For a moment I felt bad when Iku saw Rantaro with Nano but then I remembered who she was, and I’m glad Rentaro realizes this as well, even if he loses most of his blood because of it. We’re a getting a baseball game next episode, and the girls are all going to do their best to help out, whether by playing, supporting, or being a degenerate, all help is appreaciated. Now, I’m not sure who the last players on the team will be, we’ll find out next time. In this episode, we do see a nice cameo as well, blink and you’ll miss it but it’s a soon to be known character. Also, Mei has been added to OP, so yes, I loved this episode from start to finish. Also, Rei Takahashi really has a talent for playing these type of characters.

3. Re:Zero Ep. 10

Very nice episode. I ask again, has Emilia always been this strong? She showed even more this episode and I had a laugh as Subura kept going through the plan they are going through until reaching a conclusion near the end. While it seems he knows what Regulus is up to, I wonder if they can do anything to counter it. The other fights look great as well, the trap set up for Lust is nice but I’m not too sure the fight against wrath will go well. Not that I could concentrate much after that scene.

1. Orb: On the Movements of the Earth. Ep. 20

Wow. The audience wants a reunion between daughter and father, the writer knows this addresses the possibility and how it would affect Jolenta and her conviction and how she must make the right decision in that moment. Moments, we see that moment, Jolenta, having recollected all of her precious memories, makes the decision that she believes in despite seeing Nowak. Incredible. This story goes beyond just a telling of Heliocentrism, the idea of conviction is written expertly and consistently leaves the audience wondering more about characters and perhaps thinking about their own conviction and how they can compare to those inside this anime. Of course, that’s only after one has time to recover from the pain of losing yet another character we become connected. We’re onto the next two, both with great yet different convictions, both on a path long since set for them.

4. Dragon Ball Daima. Ep. 17

Was this a perfect episode? I believe so. Seriously, everything from start to finish was a pleasure to fight. The initial fight between Goku and Majin Duu was nice, they seemed evenly matched for some time but the episode takes off once Gomma appears. The music and animation for the entire fight was fantastic, man I am glad Dabura did not have that third eye. My favorite part of the episode was Goku asking the others to help him fight. It’s a side of Goku that went missing in Super. Yes, he loves a good fight, but Goku had a maturity to him that understood the gravity of a situation and we got to see that. Also, SS3 has regained it’s hype in this series and and I’m only more grateful to it because of it.

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

5. Ishura. Ep. 6

Once again, where Ishura shines is in their characters. Rosclay being just another to the roster that grabs my attention immediately. His introduction is nice, and its clear that he is strong but through underhanded means which is interesting as we haven’t seen that before as far as I can remember since most of the cast have their own unique abilities that make them strong. I wonder he he will fare in the games however, underhanded means will not be enough to deal with some of the others we see in this anime. Also glad Kuuro is fine, but the most surprising part of this episode was the blasting sword already moving around.

7.

Solo Leveling. Ep. 6

Man, awesome episode with two armies going at it. Jin-Woo’s secret is being revealed to more people now and I believe the announcement of his ranking to the world is coming soon and it will make whoever we saw at the end there mad as hte attention should be taken away from him. Of course, that is speculation, but it seems Jin-Woo makes enemies as easily as he makes girls fall for him. But now we must decide, who is best girl? I’m not sure, but I’m willing to listen to arguments.

9. My Happy Marriage. Ep. 6

Wonderful episode. Kaoruko betraying everyone worried me about the reasoning for it but I forgot that I’m watching an anime with good writing there. The fight was great as well, but man is Usui something else. Seems he may have even planted a deeper seed that will be far more dangerous. The ending made me cry as well, everyone respects and understands Kaoruko and I’m glad her punishment was reduced. Her asking Miyo to be her friend again was a tear jerker but wrapped up an almost perfect episode. Wait… is that… Hazuki?! 10/10.

11. Rurouni Kenshin. Ep. 18 (42)

Cool to see Kenshin asking the others for help here, it’s a large battle and they wio’t be able to control the fire themselves so it is necessary. Other than that, this was more of a transitionary episode as we head into the battles to come. Our main trio is heading into battle fast but I am still concerned about their chances given the numbers disadvantage. Still, I have no doubt they will put up a great fight and I for one am most excited to see Sano fight.

6. Sakamoto Days. Ep. 6

You’d think hitman would covet an incredible sniper, Heisuke is unparoled if even Sakamoto compliments his skill. This episode was a lot of fun to watch as Heisuke is really likeable and any character with a animal sidekick is given immediate likability points. I do hope we see more of Heiskuke, also I’m not ashamed to say I never noticed him in the cover art for the anime but it does make me hopeful for more. I believe in the coming episodes we’ll have Sakamoto face a real challenge and I look forward to that.

8. Apothecary Diaries. Ep. 4

Man, they somehow made Jinshi even prettier. I like how they used the moths for the light effect, a prank from days past turned out to help them for the better. Also, when the envoy stepped up to the emperor, I firmly believed a head was going to role, I wonder if we will see another attempt from them. I doubt it however, as it seems the focus now will be on Mao Mao making medicine and a possible arc surrounding this.

10. Shangri La Frontier. Ep. 19

Into the abyss! The explanation for the team getting together again is actually good and the scenes of them being abducted was just as great. With that, we have encountered the ghost ship and the battles have begun, but I wonder when the big boss will show up and how it can possibly be defeated out at sea. With the attack master having their stats lowered for the time being as well this battle will be difficult but I believe they have something up their sleeve. If nothing else, this team wipe is going to be epic should it happen.

B: Good/Solid

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

Beheneko: The Elf-Girl's Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster! Ep. 7

Well, the reason for capturing Feri and Lily was a decent one at least, but this little arc flew by so it’s hard to digest it all. Still, we got a nice fight scene from it, my favorite part of it all being Tama beyblade action. With the earl being imprisoned it’s only fair the girls enjoy a nice reward, which in turn is great for us. Mmmmm 9/10, close up was well received.

The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World. Ep. 9

Well, I am glad to see Myaley back already at least, also seems Kenichi has been have some fun times with her, good for him. We get to meet some new characters in this one and are now headed off into a mission to save a sick girl but there is more trouble to come as the bandits have returned. Not too interested so far, I’m more interested in seeing what happened with Primula and whether she is married or not. Is there an endgame here or, dare I say it, are we going the harem route? I like harems. sue me!

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you not watch for various issues.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
