Anime Spring 2026 Weekly Ranking May 1st to May 7th
May 1, 2026
Ranking for anime episodes released May 1, 2026 to May 7, 2026
No slime this week, though I can tell you what would have happened this episode... that's all!
S: Must Watch
Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.
1. Witch Hat Atelier. Ep.6
SUMMARY
I love how expressive Coco is, it's easy to tell what she is thinking when learning.
Speaking of learning, Coco's lesson focuses on learning while cooking today. Qifrey's advice is solid, if you wish to learn something integrating it into daily life is the quickest way to do so. Not only do I agree, but the guy himself is a great and patient teacher.
After a quick picnic, we meet Olruggio, the watchful eye of Qifrey's Atelier. The guy believes Coco should be turned over and have her memories erased, something Qifrey won't allow. There's still a lot we don't know about Qifrey, Olruggio seemed worried by the idea of Qifrey losing his memories.
While Olruggio was intent on taking Coco away, Coco may have swayed him by the end of it. Her love for magic is so pure that taking it away would be cruel. Even if Olruggio believes it to be a simple spell, her reason for loving it would convince anyone.
9.5/10, it's going to be real hard to convince me to like Agott.
2. Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2. Ep.4
SUMMARY
This was a pretty good episode. It's what I imagine Shonen's greatest hits would be like, a cool power up, being cheered on by others, and the nice little scene with Elfaria standing next to will as they size up their opponent.
After going super Will, the guy defeats the monsters around the kingdom before getting into a good fight against the boss monster. He puts up a good fight, he his sword shatters during combat. No matter! Elferia sends him a sword of ice that he uses to end the fight, and cast a very cool spell when reinforcement's are summoned.
Overall, a great episode full of action and feel good moments. We get some interesting lore as well however. Finn has been on the mission of uniting magic and sword, with Will being the key to making this mission to an old witch reality. What more is in store I wonder, I only hope we don't go down the lane of only Will being useful.
9.5/10, pretty good
3. Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun. Ep.6
SUMMARY
Man I love the style of this anime, feels like a classic almost.
Word of what has happened in Sei finally reaches Yamato. The news also details the intent of Sei to invade Yamato, Ryumon wants to take action and head to the border himself before Sei can get the upper hand. Of course, his effort
is stopped by Denki.
How long will Yamato survive with a uselss king and Denki at the healm I wonder? Ryumon and his team will do all they can to keep it safe, but even they must deal with the corruption eventually; especially when willingto fall for an obvious trap. With Sei's intent to invade, trusting the message leaves Ryumon in a tough spot but never out of options.
Ryumon and Kaku explain the plan to those staying behind, including Aoteru and Yoshitsune. It's here where others of the team ask to join Sei. I'd scream treason in most anime, but I understand the reasoning here; there is no future for Yamamto in which Dekni and the Taira are around.
Now then, I half agree with Kaku. Without a doubt, Ohga wants revenge; however, I believe she does care for Sei. OIf course, I could be wrong and in that case I'll take exilement as needed of whatever Aoteru decides necessary. And what will he decide? Aoteru believes there is something that he must do as the leaders are away, but just what is it? I'm too dumb to make sense of the words left behind by Kaku, and I have to let the team know I'm not patient either!
9.3/10, see you next week!
4. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4. Ep.5
SUMMARY
If you thought we would get boring reading session, you'd be dead wrong partner.
While most books are illegible, Subaru is tossed into the memories of Typhon, the witch of pride. We see her past and how she came to be the witch, but this also reveals the nature of the library. The library keeps books of the deceased, and it's only possible to read that which the reader knows. This could be great for finding information, but the sheer number of books inside with little order to the shelves leaves the team at a loss on this floor. It's time to go to the next.
Before doing so, we learn about Shaula's rules. In short, she's going to kill them should they try to leave, or break a rule. I know Subaru says leaving would be simple enough by beating Shaula, but I wonder how strong the girl is. We've seen a glimpse of her strength, and I'd be all for a fight if I didn't like her character so much.
Onto the next test! It's Subaru vs a drunkard!
9.2/10, take the wheel Julius
5. Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Ep.5
SUMMARY
Family meeting time!
I had doubts they would bring Asa to the parking lot, though I wonder if Yuru going to the manor himself is the better choice. Perhaps not, but it's fantastic news for Asa.
So how does the reunion go? Why awkward of course. Yuru has his questions he must ask the hug wanting Asa, with the first being the one I wanted to know most. Unfortunately, all Asa can say is that their parents are missing. I'm glad she doesn't keep secrets from Yuru here, doing so would only make him more distrusting.
We don't get to ask any more questions before the manor is attacked! A whole group appears in the manor, aiming to take out not only some of the Kagemori but capture the twins as well. I asked before if there would be other groups with daemons around, and I'm very happy that there are.
With that it's the end of the episode and we're left wit the same questions as before. Can we trust the Kagemori group? It's hard to give a definitive answer at the moment. They're not going to hurt Yuru, but we need to know more about the reason behind their attack on the village. I'd take a chance at believing that we can trust them, we may need to bolster our little families strength if they have more people after them in the future as well after all.
9.3/10, just give her a hug bro
6. Classroom of the Elite 4th Season: Second Year, First Semester. Ep.9
SUMMARY
Island test time, after a quick look into Tsubasa and her own reason for targeting the boy.
Wasn't it on a boat where Ayanokouji traumatized Kei? Love is strange, but not as strange as this test. Challenges and movement are the way to score points, it seems there may be advantages in taking the test alone as Kouenji is doing since he'll be able to move faster than most. Groups will have benefits of course, they are being lenient on fights which could mean trouble even for Ayanokouji.
Day 1 is a slow start for the boy as he only ends with 3 points. He's calm as ever despite being beat to the area for top points once more. On both days, he runs into Tsubasa often. His suspicions are high and he grills her as she request to travel with him. By now, I suspect that Ayanokouji has his white room rival pinned down, the encounters are too strange to be coincidence.
9/10, who will take first?
A: Very Good
Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.
7. I Want to End this Love Game. Ep.4
SUMMARY
The green flags are back at it again.
After a nice date, Yukiya and Miku are overthinking everything. The biggest factor being Yukiya's notes, and the kissing page. Was he trying to go for it? No, but the idea that he could have has Miku blowing steam out of her ears.
The game is still on however, Miku takes the helm and attacks this episode. First at school where she is reassured by Yukiya that he wouldn't do anything she wouldn't like, which leads into a classic press against the wall moment. A classic indeed, but two much for the hearts of younglings.
Finishing the episode with Miku taking Yukiya on a date was cute. YES IT WAS A DATE! Miku wanted to repay Yukiya even if only a little after the date. The coffee shop was cute, but it is the note afterward that he will cherish forever.
8.5/10, just date already!
8. Digimon Beatbreak. Ep.29
SUMMARY
Miyotismon! Probably one of the coolest digimon designs to date, it's just solid from head to toe.
Now then, today's episode focuses on finding the culprit behind cold hearting fans of a famous artist. Given the makeup of the guys fanbase, there is no one better than Reina to take the case. She's a little hesitant, but she's geared with a pretty dress to infiltrate the fan base.
As the Golden Dawn believed, it was the artist behind the cold heart cases; however! Miyotismon was the artist themselves. They capture Reina and we're off into the digirealm where Reina must defend a few other fans that have been captured. It's a dangerous venture, but she ends victorious in with some help from one of the five stars, Rose.
Is the next arc focused on Rose? I wouldn't mind.
8/10, Lilymon!
B: Good/Solid
9. Liar Game. Ep.5
SUMMARY
Ok, I'll admit it, I was duped. Shinichi's plan wasn't bad at all after he introduced the contract. It would leave a traitor at a devastating loss and I rejoiced as Nao did once everyone signed.
And so, the game begins. Shinichi's plan goes well, dividing their ranks evenly so that one of their group is left in the end which would be a total victory for the group. Unfortunately, who they suspected wasn't the one they should have watched out for.
As the game comes to a finale, a traitor is revealed. One of the girls Nao gathered isn't a girl it all! It's a man named Hitomi who used Shinichi's plan to end as the sole victor once the game concludes. Disguising themselves as their friend, Hitomi cackles at Nao now that the game is over, yet Shinichi is ice cold.
Is Shinichi surprised? The contract was great, but I wonder if he had anything prepared for this.
8/10, they got me
C: It's ok/ Fine
These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.
10. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 3. Ep.6
SUMMARY
I knew he would get some cool new stuff! A car vending machine? I bet he has some good old fashioned American war power vendors in there somewhere. Or, at the very least, some cool weapons. I'll take a modern bow, it could cause some serious damage though I must remember these guys have magic powers.
Boxxo gifts the crew a car that pulls a carraige through the everlasting stratum. It's a crazy long path in which they bump into the menagerie of fools. The fools were excommunicated after Boxxos's escape as they were believed to have helped Boxxo somehow. They were forced to escape, but Sulream stayed with them given her strange love.
And so we are reunited in the efforts once more, a month long trip ends with them at a strange door. What is behind this door and will Boxxo show off the missile launching vending machine? Is sure hope so.
6/10, gives us missiles!
D: Do Not Recommend
Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.
11. Farming Life in Another World Season 2. Ep.5
SUMMARY
A peaceful day indeed, but I must admit that I've read certain complaints from the fanbase that lowers the ranking for this anime. I'm sure you know that it is.
No matter, the episode is a quick one as we focus on some happenings around the village. To begin, Hiraku has no idea what he's doing, he just keeps winning. Pretty girls abound, he's lucky to have them as they help him rediscover what it is he has planted in the past.
Afterward, we get the smallest inklings of what could be a harem as one of the elves has a crush on the main man himself. Will she win him over? Nope. That is the complaint, the harem well existent in the source is nowhere to be found here; I, am not happy about this.
5/10, still better than slime
F: Bad
Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
12. Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5. Ep.5
SUMMARY
Chizuru is just as guilty in all this in my opinion. In time she became as much an accomplice of the lies as Kazuya. Sure it was nice for her grandmother to think Chizuru was going to be fine with a guy, but you know what else would have been nice? Chizuru telling the truth. Even if she was single at the time, she is a grown woman more than capable of taking care of herself. Furthermore, she is gorgeous. She won't struggle to find a man should she ever want one, though she'll always struggle to keep anyone given her immaturity with emotions.
The real victim here is Ruka. SHE ACTAULLY SAID YOU CUCKED ME! Which she did by the way. To this day, I don't understand why Kazuya never chose Ruka. She's just as pretty and would be a much better girlfriend.
Thank goodness for Mami. She calls out Chizuru and says it how it is. Even if she has a strange obsession, everything she says about Chizuru is true. If we were lucky the two would start exchanging slaps, but that's not for today.
1/10, hit her Mami!
I'm going to spoil this for you all. After this, Chizuru ghosts Kazuya for three months and the guy collapses because of it. I hate these two so much.
