S: Must Watch
Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.
1. Witch Hat Atelier. Ep.3
SUMMARY
I need some Alaira cosplayers yesterday please.
Before Coco can become Qifery's official apprentice, she must pass the test of the crowns. Here, she must find and bring back a plant growing atop floating islands. Qifery believes it is a bad time to do it, the islands of the Dadah range are at their highest point at the moment. It's a bad time to do it, and that is why Agott sends Coco off to the range.
The start of the test is as rough as we could have expected, the poor girl even loses her floaty boots. The difficulty brings her down, only memories of her time with her mother and the words of Qifrey keep her in the test.
Watching Coco use the skills taught by her mother was magical. Using a tool a she was familiar with, a canvas she used many times over, this may have been my favorite scene of the season. The music and the animation, we're in good hands.
Magic is cool and all, but it is always the users that make it something otherworldly. To do so, they must love magic; Coco has this in droves. Seeing her joy after successfully creating a cape of flying, and her glowing eyes in doing so is just what is needed to be good at magic. I can't wait to see the beauty she brings in the coming days.
9.6/10, What a joy to watch anime like this
2. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4. Ep.2
SUMMARY
The time has come, I miss Rem. As we've seen many times with this anime, this will be a difficult journey. Subaru's ability is powerful, but with the deaths we saw last season, I hope the guy keeps his mental. The Op, as much as I liked the song, did not help with keeping my hopes high for Subaru's mind.
Just how difficult will conquering the Auguria dunes be? Well, to start off, the group is hit with a massive sandstorm. Meili keeps mabeast from making the journey even more difficult, but I am sure it is more than sand and beast that keep people away from the towers.
A combination of helpful advice and skills are enough to make it through the first stage filled with sand, and into an endless field of flowers. Battle and chase are unavoidable, as is Subaru's first death of the season! I liked that one, reminds me of the sniper shot from Summertime rendering, if you know you know.
I've had my issues with Subaru, but I have to commend the guy on keeping his mind together. Remembering the pain of such gruesome deaths would have driven anyone else mad many deaths ago, I guess his never ending positivity is to thank for this.
Everything after heading into the field of flowers was fantastic. The initial deaths, seeing Beako disappear, and the defense afterwards. A great way to end the episode, give me more!
9.5/10, I don't know how he does it
3. Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun. Ep.2
SUMMARY
I didn't get to write on episode 1, so I'll give a quick word on my thoughts so before episode 2. The art style and directing are insane. Combined with an interesting plot, and that which we saw in episode 1, I'm very interested in seeing more. What will the pain and loss drive Aoteru to do?
Will Episode 2 live up to expectations?
As the nation of Yamato defends itself from the nation of Buo, Aoteru arrives in my favorite place to go in Japan, Osaka. It's here that he encounters a group opposed to the Taira clan which are led by Yoshitsune. The dream to unify Japan and end the era of three kingdoms is no simple goal, one that can't be accomplished with a bunch of yes man. They need people like Aoteru who are able to offer a thought, the question is whether they will allow such a thing past their ego.
Passing the Toryumon to become a retainer is the focus now, both guys are here for similar purposes though one for ego another for peace. After a long wait, the time to take the test is here. Who will make Ryumon kneel?
9/10, the jazz was going crazy this episode
4. Classroom of the Elite 4th Season: Second Year, First Semester. Ep.6
SUMMARY
An island test with a twist; the ability to work with anyone in your year seems cool but I wouldn't trust any of the students of this school with my least favorite shirt. Despite how untrusting I am, other classes are taking the initiative to form groups.
Ayanokouji seems to agree with me and keeps an eye on a sudden pairing. Shinohara and Komiya is the example today. We're both untrusting, but it could be nothing more than simple crush, oh young love. On the other hand, I say let Ike drown, he fumbled like no other the way he treated Shinohara. Then again, I take no joy in seeing the guy cry; Chin up Ike, it happens.
The ending of Arisu vs Ichinose was pretty good. Both are blunt with words and their intentions, they have just what they need for one another. Ichinose can receive crucial points, ,but Arisu makes the greatest benefits by preventing a three class alliance.
9/10, Ayanokouji is going solo bolo, will he come out on top?
A: Very Good
Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.
5. Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Ep.2
SUMMARY
Yuru's orders to Left and Right were a great way to convey his character. Even so, I'm more interested in Asa and why she was replaced. There are endless possibilities here, though it will have to wait until the battle is done.
Right leaves to get the survivors to safety as Left takes on the Daemon nearby. As he is taking people to safety, he encounters Asa and does notice something about her; will they also have questions about why she was gone? I know I do!
Back to family reunions, Right reveals the truth. It's the only reason Yuru stops himself from releasing the killing arrow. Of course, he still can't accept the new Asa as his sister given what has occurred; the two part as Yuru leaves the village with Dera for the safety of the village.
Mystery compounds as Asa is picked up by her team, and Yuru is introduced to another of the surreal inventions of the world below. Who is leading Asa? Why was Asa left behind? What are other Deamons are there and how are people paired with them? A lovely set of questions to have, and episode 2 has done well to keep us wanting to know that and more.
9/10, Imagine seeing a city for the first time
6. Digimon Beatbreak. Ep.27
SUMMARY
Seeing Commandramon and Haruomi reunite was nice, I was wondering if it would happen after beating team tactics. Haruomi returns with many surprises however, he's partnered up with a new digimon, Elizamon!
This leads to some drama of course, don't cheat everyone! As no fighting is allowed at the asnctuary, we'll have to settle this another way. It's a cook off to finsh the fight. This is a fun way to settle things, but nothing could have prepared me for that twist.
Elizamon's orignal partner was murdered before they found Haruomi. Finding each other escaping danger, Haruomi promised to help Elizamon avenge their old partner without knowing that it was him that did it all that time ago. A crazy twist, this anime has some cool surprises every now and then.
Haruomi is filled with guilt after learning about the truth and does what he can to force Elizamon to kill him. The others stop this of course, and Elizamon forgives him despite her grief. A ncie ending, we even get another suprise with where Haruomi's new partners end up with him.
8.7/10, I lovd curry
B: Good/Solid
7. Liar Game. Ep.2
SUMMARY
It's time for war. After that sick guitar intro that is!
Shinichi and Nao focus on mental warfare to wear their opponent down, and constant surveillance reveals that the cash is likely still in the house. Shinichi uses this advantage to pry the whereabouts of the money from Fujisawa, though it is the declaration of his ability to steal the money from within that keeps their advantage going.
It all comes down to the last hour of the game. Shinichi uses a classic tactic, deceiving his teamate to deceive his oppoenent. Or so I think. With Nao making a desperate plea, I beleive that Shinchi has used Fujisawa's cognitive decline to fool him into thinking the game has ended. It's a genius idea, though we'll have to wait a week to find out.
8/10, give Nao her money!
8. I Want to End this Love Game. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Miku Sama, love is war!
Love is full of hardships and wonders, and at times competition. We've seen this a few times over the years, I want to end this love game is the newest addition to the group.
Miku and Yukiya, long time friends, have sworn to make each other admit the love they hold for each other, though both have long since fallen for the other. We see their tactics to force the other to reveal what they feel, each attack met with a skip of a heartbeat, though each refuses to admit defeat.
Was that NTR? Whatever the case may be, Yukiya improving himself in hopes of winning Miku over is nice. Miku does the same, nearly giving poor Yukiya a heart attack upon seeing her in uniform. A battle is immediate of course, Yukiya pulls out a classic that is countered masterfully. I hope both will continue to exchange punches as they did this episode, though I believe the loser will be Yukiya by a long shot.
7.9/10, Love is War!!!!
9. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 3. Ep.3
SUMMARY
Stealing a vending machine has to carry at least a hefty fine.
I wills say, a business has the right to refuse service, but messing with the kids was just as great. That matters not however, how come we've never seen the jukebox before?! They're keeping the best from us, I bet he has more secrets in there.
After some time in a cell, Boxxo is summoned to meet with Sulream. You'd think the person in danger here is Boxxo, you'd be wrong. Sulream eyes are on Ash. The kid is aware of this and takes advantage of Sulream's affection, allowing Boxxo and Pity to form and execute an escape plan.
Although they esacpe the grasp of Sulream, they're tossed into a battle against the third general in an instant. A vending machine putting belt to ass will never not be funny, I need more inanimate objects fighting.
7/10, the great esacpe complete
10. Farming Life in Another World Season 2. Ep.2
SUMMARY
Despite some inital issues with housing for the new people of the great tree village, all seems to be going well now. Some remodeling and different architecture is enough for everyone to settle into their own village, and soon enough they are settling into work as well.
I do enjoy the village building of this anime; it's not promising much more as others do, and it is simpe to accept what we get becasue of it. Hiraku is a decent guy who is humble enough to listen to others, but I still want more.
Ask and you shall receive! The issue of women is at hand now, something that made me sit up in my chair. This is the true dilemna, where are we going to get more men for the overwhelming majority of women in the population of the village? We may have to ask for help from other places, who wouldn't say yes to such an offer? Or, one guy may have to step up and do the deed.
7/10, you have my attention
C: It's ok/ Fine
These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.
11. Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2. Ep.1
SUMMARY
We live in a time where many anime get more than a single season. While I could speak about just how many are deserving of this, I am glad to see Wistoria back.
Will's efforts have earned fans and respect around the school. An entire season of everyone doubting Will, I too support the man who is tossed insurmountable hurdles only minutes into the second seaosn.
The question of what is magic is a cruel thing to ask Will. Is the reason kind? I'm not sure. I beleive it is arrogant for Edward to make the decision. Wanting to proetct Will from a painful fate is kindness, it may be the correct choice in fact. But that is not always the path that must be taken, not when uncertainty sways the answer.
Now then, something was off about this episode. It all felt too fast, like one scene tossed at the board right after the other. Boom we return from where we left off, boom we're looking at the those atop the tower, boom a surprise test, boom Will is sad, boom a festival, and boom there is disaster. It was too much in too little time, give me time to breathe, to feel bad for Will and see more than a minute of him at least. Hopefully this episode was a needed sacrfice, and what is to come will be better.
6.6/10, Where do I sign up for Eliza's class
12. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4. Ep.2
SUMMARY
This is a hard one for me. I think Slime has too many pitfalls for me to forget, but this episode had just enough substance for me to think, eh it was fine.
This episode also revolves around the dungeon and the teams efforts to adress many of the complaints. They have done so, but new issues arise in that teams are finding exploits to get through the dungeon. It's a real gamer moment for the dungeon goers, but not someting that Rimuru plans to forbid at the moment.
Another issue at hand is that many of the bosses have been taken out. Some are given a boost of strength to aid in what is to come, but Rimuru has other plans for helping in the dungeon himself. This could be interesting, Veldora and the others joining Rimuru aren't just strong, they have great combat skills in general.
6/10, we saw Shion yay
D: Do Not Recommend
Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.
F: Bad
Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
13. Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5. Ep.2
SUMMARY
THERE IT IS! THERE IT IS FINALLY! LET'S ALL GATHER AROUND AND LAUGH AT KAZUYA. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.
I don't even care about what happened around the episode, indulge me for this one. This scene right here is what made the mamga, and now anime, go from my least liked to something I despise. I feel disrespected, ashamed to witness something so pathetic.
And that is the core of it, Kazuya is pathetic. You're often supposed to feel bad for such characters, awaiting for their growth and feeling proud as they do. But there is no such thing here, Kazuya will never learn, will never grow, will never be anything until the author switches himself out with Kazuya. Yes, he did that.
I've seen plenty of anime with unlikable characters, it's not enough to garner the vitrial hatred I hold. What compounds it is Chizuru. Another terrible character, so unwilling to grow, unwilling to communicate, unwilling to acknowledge her own emotions, that I consider her just as pitiful as Kazuya. In that sense, by some grace, the two are perfect for eachother.
1/10, the laugh I've waited for is finally here
