Ranking for anime episodes released April 3, 2026 to April 9, 2026
.
S: Must Watch
Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.
1. Witch Hat Atelier. Ep.1
SUMMARY
This will be for episodes 1 and 2. Another side note, seeing the name Bug Films made me stand up and look into the distance as I wondered where I heard that name from. It's been some time since we've seen this team work on something, I wonder what is in store.
We start off by following a young girl named Coco. Can we make this the standard for art style from now on? From Mushoku Tensei, to Sentenced to be a Hero, and this anime, it's such a pleasing style that I will never get tired of. We even get the bread litmus test! Watching Coco at work, whether it be washing or cutting fabric, is a joy in this style, but we're not here to fawn over animation.
Coco has a passion for magic stemming from her youth after meeting a masked witch. Her reason for being a witch, to make the world vibrant, is very sweet even if it isn't possible for someone born without the ability to do so. Despite this, her dreams never die and one discovery leads her to try and cast spells once more.
Casting magic recklessly is dangerous however, Qifrey returns just in time to save Coco, but not in time to save her mother. What an incredible way to end the first episode, and we get another right after. If the quality of this episode persists, we're in for a treat.
I thought recognizing Arnheid was the biggest surprise I would get, BUT IS THAT EVE?! Little fact about myself, Eve is my favorite artist and Tokyo Ghetto is my favorite song, it's always nice to hear the guy. Onto epiosde 2!
We've only a glimpse into the magic of this world, we'll be learning with Coco at Qifrey's atelier. Fortunately, Coco won't be alone as there are other students here.
I mentioned that I hoped the quality of the show would continue, and we soon get the confirmation of this. The change in light, making the entire room darker, as Coco reveals what she did the night before was very well done.
Light returns as we learn of the history of magic in this world. A tool too powerful in the hands of everyone, it's been passed along only to those willing to protect and keep it a secret. This includes forbidden magic, magic meant to hurt others.
Learning magic isn't as fun as Coco dreamed it to be but she does well to learn quickly. The system is pretty nice, I love when stories focus on the symbols used within magic. Learning from Qifrey is well enough, but I fear that it is Agott who will be a tougher teacher.
9/10, I'm going to like this one a lot
2. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4. Ep.1
SUMMARY
One of the pillars of the isekai genre returns after a crazy twist at the end of last season. Julius had his name consumed yet he remains awake as no one but Subaru remembers him. He's not the only victim of gluttony, though hopes of recovering their names and memories are low. Despite this, there is someone they can turn to.
Shaula the sage is who Subaru and crew are after, reaching her is something even Reinhard, mister protection from plot himself, failed to do. Coming alone with him is Anastasia, or so we think. Anastasia has been taken over by an artifical spirit, Echidna. It's the reason they joined the journey to get help from the sage, I can only hppe this journey will end in success as we're off to pick up someone very imporatnt.
Before picking up said person, we're recuriting Meili! Her knowledge of the path ahead will be of big help, even if we have to keep her at a safe distance. After Subaru and Julius share some bro time, it's time for her. Best girl will not always be the winner, which is sadly the case in this anime from all that I can see. We finally visit Rem.
Subaru's conviction is unwielding, will it happen this season?
9/10, I didn't need my heart wrenched out by that ending, but ok.
3. Classroom of the Elite 4th Season: Second Year, First Semester. Ep.5
SUMMARY
Ayanokouji's reasoning for getting a perfect score baffles me as it brings questions from his class. Suzune steps in to answer most of the questions here, though only an apology from Ayakouji is enough to calm the most irritated. That won't be enough for eveyone however, the entire school now has their sights on him.
Having a 20 million bounty on his head makes him him the most popular person on campus at this point, the exact opposite of what he wished for. Suzune joins the student council in hopes of helping Ayanokouji with those targeting him. It can't be all bad however, Ayanokouji has Kei after all, even if I know that the guy is only using her. Even so, a kiss would have been nice!
Ichika is the one to bust the party here, she's still my number one suspect for being the white room student. She brings an apology gift in the form of condoms, but all is quiet for a time afterwards. Instead, luxury waits the class in the form of a crusie; to make it there, they'll have to pass the next exam.
8.5/10, I'm telling you it's Ichika
A: Very Good
Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.
4. Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Asking a woman to hold off on birth might be the wildest request I've seen this year in anime.
We start off with Yuru making a succesful catch in his hunt before returning home to visit his sister. I wonder why Asa is locked behind a cell, but Yuru is determined to stay in the village and at her side.
It's interesting to see them call what I believe the trail of a plane, a dragon. They live in a village, but we can hear the sounds of, and eventually see, modern technology. Whatever kept thier village hidden has been broken, and now their vilalge is under attack by soldiers of the modern era.
The goal of this raid is capturing Yuru who strikes back with bow and arrow. This may not be enough for what powers their enemies have however. A red hooded girl with magic like powers is the next to enter the village. We get one surprise after another, but the biggest twist has yet to come.
The girl behind the cell is not Asa. The real Asa has returned for Yuru, killing the imposter behind the cell and disamring Yuru in the act. Dera returns just in time to save Yuru here, grabbing the boy and making a quick getaway.
Yuru's questions are understandable, in his eyes his beloved sister has just been killed. Under attack from helis, Dera gives Yuru a necklace that summons two beasts to deal with the enemies. Those were his Daemons, Left and Right. Their designs are pretty cool, but the epsiodes ends here!
A pretty good start. The twist and reveals were done at breakneck speed only after the attack which matched the tempo of the situation at hand. The decision makes the audience feel like part of the scene, now we have as many questions as Yuru does. Id love some more, but we'll have to wait until next week!
9/10, My expectations have risen
5. Digimon Beatbreak. Ep.25
SUMMARY
After getting a cool ultimate level digimon we're back to the slice of life, battle of day episodes. I'm fine with this as it is a nice respite after a bunch of great episodes that were serious. Also, it's Starmon, who doesn't love Starmon?
After taking down a top level wanted criminal, the crew takes a vacation on a fantastic cruise. It's well deserved, though Kyo takes the time to continue recovering after overusing his strength in the previous battle.
Makoto uses his time to go watch a play featuring none other than Star man! A Starmon and their partner, Makoto is a big fan after watching a video of thm rescuing some children. Even better yet, they get to work alongside their hero as the ship is raided!
As it turns out, the video of Star man saving the children was fake as the attack wasn't from them. Does that mean they aren't a hero? Perhaps. But! They're still more than capable of becoming one! Starmon won't give in, and as his partner jumps into action with him, a true hero is born.
8. 4/10, Starmon, a classic
6. Liar Game. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Madhouse might be my favorite animation studio, so I'm more than willing to watch anything they can make.
The explanation of Liar Game made it sound like as much a nightmare as Nao believed. Possible riches are overshadowed by the idea of debilitating debt, and poor Nao has little she can turn to for help. Now, at first I believed it would be best to bunker down and hide until time is up, but the rules state that nothing is considered criminal in this game.
As Nao struggles with what to do, she is informed of her opponent. It is none other than her homeroom teacher from middle school. Nao is too innocent for her own good, and leads her opponent right to the treasure trove where she gives it away. She soon finds out that she has been deceived and must now find a way to recover it.
How could he trick such a nice girl? Unfortunately, she won't be able to reover the money alone and seeks help from a famous con artist, Shinichi Akiyama. Her request is denied at first, but innocence doesn't mean she'll give in easily.
Shinichi agrees after some time and we're off to the confrontation. Everyone has their own issues, but most are too selfish to care about another's. The confrontation ends in failure, but Shinichi uses information of where the money is to their advantage. They'll have at least two days to get it back, will Nao and Shinichi be succesful?
8.7/10, Nao i so pretty
B: Good/Solid
7. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 3. Ep.2
SUMMARY
Pity's blessing allows her to stay in a giant clam given her fear of the world, oh how many would love such a blessing. I'm not sure what I would carry around myself, but it would be awesome for traveling with heavy luggage.
Now then, with Pity's help we find the menagerie of fools hunkered down in her house. They want Pity's help, but she refuses and the crew is uncovered. The team isn't here to fight, instead they offer the words of the people back home. Kinds words aren't enough, the menagerie of fools will stop at nothing for their mission.
It's time for battle, we're up against vampires?! It would be an issue if it wasn't for Boxxo's unreal creativity. Making the bottles into misses was a joy to see, the guy continues to impress with the use of his magic. For a time, they have the advantage but the menagerie of fools weren't a great team based off strength alone. The true target was the main man himself all along.
8/10, they got the box!
8. The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Brave warrior Serafina leads the charge and defends her soldiers as they attempt to flee. Against a mighty warrior more than twice her size she gives her all, but it is not enough. Defeated, she is ready to die a warriors death, but fate will not have it.
Serafina is taken as her opponents prize, will her fate be one of misery? That is up to her opponent, Veor, someone we don't get much of in this epsiode but from what we do I can tell he's as powerful as his intimidating stature would suggest. So what terrible punshiment does he have for Serafina, it will have to come after she is tortured by one of his subjects. Or, after she's bathed and dressed?
No torture in this timeline, Veor means to marry Serafina. Is that a fate worse than death, we'll have see to in time. For now, we get some flashbacks of Serafina back in her home before joinng the war. It's all a dream, though Serafina may have preferred to stay asleep given the surprise upon waking.
7/10, could be cute
C: It's ok/ Fine
These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.
9. Farming Life in Another World Season 2. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Ahhh, farming life in another world. I remember firmly not liking this anime in its first season, expect for that cute song as they were making the wine. Nonetheless, this is a comfort watch for most, and something I can watch on the side to complain about. What else could i need?
We return to Hiraku and his growing village as they prepare for a bunch of new villagers. Setting up for them is the task at hand and we get preparations for a new village across the river. Efforts are not bad with Hiraku's magic weapon at the head of the efforts, and soon the magic used to create the houses.
There's only one problem, the houses made are too small for most of the villagers coming in. The thought was there, but we'll need to rethink the housing projects to come as the new villagers find other places to stay for the time being. I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help, and Hiraku is nice enough to help as much as he can.
Now, this anime is just fine to me. I thought it would be more a harem fantasy and it is not. It's about a comfort anime as one can be, and for you fans of it I'm glad it got a season 2. So, here's to a good seaosn.
7/10, you know what i want
10. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Did I review the last season on this blog? I can't remember. To keep it short, I thought Slime season 3 was one of the worst seasons of anime I've seen. Boring, long, no stakes because you know no one is actually going to die. There's a place for anime like this, but they have to commit to being a easy going fantasy. Attempting to be something more leaves a bad taste because it can't commit, it won't allow there to be struggle. And don't bring up the girl that died two seasons go. One death, that's it? That enough to make this incredible? Look, I like the world building and the guy creating a kingdom and all that, but let's stick to that. The movie was another case of my issues with this anime. We had not one, but TWO fake out deaths in the span of a minute. Just don't even bother man, just save everyone and stuff.
Ok, I'm sorry for my rambling. All of that is to say I'm hate watching this. It's not as bad as Rent a gf, it's only as boring as farming life in another world, which both coincedently are coming out this season as well. That's right, it's the season of hate watches baby! Onto the episode!
If there's one compliment I'll give slime, it has some really good intros. This episode was moreso a catch up on how things are doing. I love to do this when I write as well, especially when starting a new book. Tempest continues to grow, but the most important growth here is Shion. She's the best character in an anime where the characters are it's strongest draw.
Apart from that, it's just an episode of Rimuru walking around and cathing up on things. The dungeon does have an issue, but that is solved by giving more incentives and even a teacher for the scrubs doing their worst. And that's about it, just the usual for slime.
Listen, I tend to love episodes like this. Please give me some world building, I want to see how so and so are doing, I live for delicious drama. But all must lead to something eventually, and this anime refuses to give us something worth the build up.
7/10, will this season dissapoint as well?
D: Do Not Recommend
Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.
F: Bad
Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
11. Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5. Ep.1
SUMMARY
Oh boy, rent a girlfriend. What can I say about this anime that hasn't been said about your least favorite food. The writing is awful, the girls are cute, there is no progression, the main characters are idiots, it's just bad. But, I love to torture myself.
At the very least, we start with an interesting character, Mami. Having grown up with a very controlling father, Mami yearned for freedom more than most. For a time, she found this freedom with a boy named Taro. I believe it's the first time we see Mami smile sincerely, but this was not meant to be.Such an upbringing gives us the Mami we know today, and her sick theme song.
We get some scenes with Ruka and what's his face. Don't think much about it, it won't go anywhere. What matters here is the chaotic force Mami.
Goddess of chaos Mami wants nothing more than to break people up. It seems insane but that's much better than whatever Chizuru is. The confrontation between these two ends with Chizuru defending Kazuya for some reason, she's a nice girl even if I disagree with every decision she makes. That matters not, DID YOU SEE THAT PREVIEW? OH MY GOD, IT'S HAPPENING FINALLY. IT'S HAPPENING! At least, it's happening soon.
3/10, an episode without Kazuya feels kind of nice, let's do that more often
