Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.
1. Spy X Family Season 3. Ep.3
SUMMARY
I've never been the biggest fan of SpyXFamily. I think it's a cute show with likable characters, but it never swept me off my feet. I always thought it held itself back to appeal to a wider audience when it had the potential to be so much more, even if at the cost of sacrificing it's greater appeal. Yes they have less appeal, they are difficult to watch, but stories that address struggle, loss, pain, growth, and other hard to address topics have always been my favorite.
I never expected this from SpyXFamily but boy I am glad with what we are seeing.
We're continuing right from last episode. The attack leveled Loid's home, forcing him to leave with his mother somewhere safer at the time. I can only assume his dad died though it is never confirmed. Unfortunately, war follows Loid and his mother dies in the next attack. Fantastic performance from young Loid's actor, that cry was gut wrenching.
I never expected Franky and Loid to meet like this, and man that I love Franky's speech here. War being a failure of diplomacy is a very real thing, and his disdain for being sent to clean up the mess, and considering the ridiculousness of it could speak to many soldiers today and in days past. We even hit the topic of propaganda and how it was used to turn both sides on each other and convince soldiers to fight.
Is this SpyXFamily?!
I'm sorry this is going to be a long one.
The line, "That's why I'm gonna make them suffer just the same." was incredible. Even the ever calm Loid we know today fell into darkness because of suffering. Seeing that his friends survived brought him back and may have been the most important thing to happen to him. Because of this, he began to question himself. Blindly believing without being certain led him to fighting without knowing why he does, blindly following orders, and blindly hating people he doesn't know. It's a beautiful journey to watch, one in which we can see what ignorance can do to a person.
And so Loid became a spy, and lived happily ever after with Anya and Yor. Or so I hope. I think Loid is in a good space at the moment, though it could be fleeting. I hope we get more of Loid's past, the glimpse we got of it was great and my favorite thing this anime has done so far.
9.5/10, what a great episode.
2. To Your Eternity Season 3. Ep.3
SUMMARY
I was shocked when I saw Pocoa, I just forgot that Fushi can do that. Smart move on Fushi's part as well, made it easier to connect with Mizuha in this case.
Mizuha's dilemma is interesting. Her natural talent has left her stuck with a need to perfect, even in youth. With youth being finite, her belief is that she will no longer have the ability to be perfect, and that she must end herself because of it. It is an unfortunate case, but her life is taking an even greater turn than the loss of youth.
Hayase's legacy continues on to the 18th leader being Mizuha. It is incredible that her very ideas live on through Mizuha now. Her saying that he is the missing piece, and thinking just like Hayase had me on the edge of my seat. Of course, I reeled back in because of the ending.
So, Mizuha is just as insane as Hayase. The reason they chase Fushi is because they consider him the perfect being, and one that only they could be worthy of. Was it the discovery of the imperfection around her that led her to wanting to get rid of it? I need more, but that was an excellent place to finish.
Now, what will Fushi do in this situation? His question confused me, I'm not sure if he meant he can make it so she didn't kill her mother, or something else. It's also interesting how often he crosses paths with Mizuha. She can't be the only one in pain, but she is the descendant of Mizuha.
9.5/10, this season has me locked in
3. Gachiakuta. Ep.15
SUMMARY
Zodyl's offer isn't bad. He seeks to destroy the sphere which somewhat aligns with Rudo's goal of getting revenge. He isn't targeting the sphere as a whole, but in time his rage could overflow into hatred that targets the sphere as well.
Zanka gets his rematch against Jabber and was ready to fight the moment his opponent showed up. He understands the power he faces so I think he has a chance but Jabber is still a difficult opponent to beat. Not sure if Jabber cares more for winning or taking a beating however, he may just keep the fight going as long as he can. Jabber has also revealed what could be his ultimate form, I hope Zanka has something to answer with.
Riyo is the one I worry about as she is at disadvantage given her opponents abilities and if she isn't suited for battle against humans then she could be defeated. Althoug, this could just be her not wanting to hurt people with her scissors. We could see some of the cleaners defeated, with Riyo being one that needs saving unless she is willing to go all out. I think it's a little early for some crazy power ups but it could happen; there is no rule saying there can only be one after all.
The others have their opponents as well but I'd like to see more of Rudo here. Seeing him consider Zydol's offer would be interesting but I don't believe his goal to destroy the sphere itself. There is nothing for him there other than his target, but he could be swayed given his rash nature. If, only if, Amo is okay however.
9/10, let's go Riyo
4. Ranma 1/2 Season 2. Ep.3
SUMMARY
HE BLEW HIMSELF UP!
I like the different style of animation they were switching to and from. It's nice to see the style reminiscent to the manga's and its usage allowed a sense of movement that was endearing.
Ok, that was a really good plan from Ranma, 1000 points for that. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I know he's a guy, but all I see is a cute girl in a bunny suit.
Mousse is pretty strong when not using his strange techniques, even if Ranma is at a disadvantage in this form he is still plenty strong as a girl. We should have talked to Dr. Tofu much sooner, but I get why the guys don't want to lose sight of girl Ranma.
Ranma training at the festival was great, we even got to see the sisters in Yukata which is a reward for us all. What was even more impressive than his ingenuity was Shampoo's haunted house, it had a whole hot spring inside. I thought grandma would switch out the pill as well which I don't mind as girl Ranma is fun to watch.
9/10, fine, I'll marry Shampoo!
A: Very Good
Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.
5. Digimon Beatbreak. Ep.3
SUMMARY
So Prisitmon is just a portable, adorable machine gun? I love him.
I cna understand the cleaners and Tenma. Tomoro feels guilty and wants to chase after Hyemon while the cleaners need money at the moment. It would have been nice for them to help him in this case even if the bounty wasn't high, but the increase will bring them in.
We got another look and reveal of the mirror world. We need to bring back the digiworld, but this will do for now as well. I hope it will have more significance than just being used for battle or transportation.
Geckomno is pretty strong in his current form but I hope his evolutions will have some type of music theme to them. He did lose control after Tomoro's enraged order, gaining some dark power for lack of a better term. Tenma's rashness could lead to a great arc as he will need to learn to control his hatred, or suffer the consequences of the actions driven from such decisions. For those in the know I would like an arc like that of Marcus from Data Squad.
We did get some level of growth by the end, so I'm hopeful this will continue.
8.5/10, you're special Geckomon
6. Dusk Beyond the End of the World. Ep.2
SUMMARY
I didn't connect Fides and Kalcrom's relationship with Akira and Towasa. It's a nice connection, though Towasa and Akira weren't part of a mafia family.
The double date did more damage to Yuugure than actually helping her. Although, Akira did have some moments of jealousy, or worry? I can't tell with the guy. He does care Yuugere, just not in the way she would want for now.
Poor Kalcrom. He made his move but was turned down in the moment by Fides. The following interaction between Akira and Kalcrom reveals that he is love with her. So much so that he wants to become the boss and change the family for her to be better off. In turn, Fides wants to become the boss to prevent somsone as kind as Kalcrom from taking such a position.
Yugere had a great line, I agree that one should prove their own true love without the need of tactics like making another person jealous or using someone else to prove it.
I hope everyone gets the instant soberization feature in the feature. But! I will trade that capability for a bullet proof vest to Akira. Please! the guy just attracts bullets. I'm sure Fides and Kalcrom will help Akira get some good medical attention, though only after Yugure is done killing everyone else in the restaurant.
Now then, I'd like to speak about the topic of relationships here. It is possible that this is just a fantasy, Sci-Fi harem, but I like to think that this anime is delving deeper into the complexity of relationships. Most cultures stick to single partnerships, but there are cases, past and current, in which people practice polygamous relationships. The idea here, with elshea, is that one care share a life long partnerships with more than one person they wish to do so with. In my culture this would be seen as wrong, impossible even, but the relationships here don't seem to stem from sexual desires, but from strong emotions and the desire to be with a certain group. I can find beauty in that, I can certainly accept it if that is their wish. I'd like if we explore more about relationships in this anime, it could great depth to a cool watch so far.
Of course, this could just be gooner bait, in which case even better for me!
8.5/10, with family like that who needs enemies?
7. Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!. Ep.3
SUMMARY
They gave Alma cute little rain boots!
Alma helping Hana find the dogs was too cute to watch, her abilities are are also very helpful. The best scene was her going against the request to hide the fact that she is a robot in order to help find Johnson. She truly is an learning robot but that scene makes me believe that she has the ability to feel like any other person.
Alma starts school with an a crazy impression given that bicycle kick. Of course, Suzume and Enji are worried sick, just like any other parent. Them not knowing what to do without her at home is also very representative of parents with young children.
Alma's presentation was awesome. I too believe that Alma loves Suzume and Enji, the videos she takes a clear representation of memories she wants to keep. Hana being in the important people folder was also very sweet; Alma stop! You're too sweet!
8.5/10, please god, keep these three together
8. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Season 2. Ep.3
SUMMARY
Even Muloda is unable to resist Sui's cuteness. I mean, who could tell the little guy no?
New stove time for Mukoda, I wish they would have shown off its capabilities; sometimes I just want to rave about appliances, sue me. Although we don't go into specifics, the stove does help with food prep for the dungeon.
With the dragon done, Mukoda gets a enough money to buy multiple stoves if he wants. He's also left with a lot of spare parts to sell or make items from in the future, but what matters here's is the meat, no diddy.
The roast dragon did look incredible, I'm surprised Elrand didn't have a heart attack from happiness. I'm glad Mukoda brought up the cannibalism, it was my first thought; I guess there is a loophole, but we're cutting it close here.
Mukoda didn't have a protection blessing? A bit of an oversight there, but I'm sure it will come in handy in the dungeon as we venture into it to end the episode. It would be interesting to face some actual danger, maybe Fel has to give it some effort or lose his cook.
7.8/10, good boy Sui with the nice sword
B: Good/Solid
C: It's ok/ Fine
These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.
9. One-Punch Man Season 3. Ep.2
SUMMARY
It's time to start coping. Surely, SURELY, they are saving budget for what is to come. I've read the manga, it could be glorious and this is just a sacrifice needed for what is to come. RIGHT?
At the very least we see Fubuki fine self, that alone may keep me watching.
Now then, Saitama's such a great character. Even with the piss poor animation, his characters stands out with his comedic elements. Him using Garou to dine and dash was funny, and I always loved how many times these two came into contact with each other while looking for one another.
Garou is also a great character filled with a dilemma that I always enjoyed. He can see the hypocrisy of the heroes as they are today and believes that he must become the greatest monster to ever exist for them to change. I think this is flawed, and his own consciousness does as well as he questions himself and refuses to harm innocents like Tarou. An unexpected complexity from a parody of the hero genre, but welcome as we explore more of Garou.
The fight between Garou and Ripper had a glimpse of hope, but it crashed soon after. I think all anime are deserving of good animation, even if it isn't always possible, but it would be best for projects like this to accept defeat. Of course, we could get something towards the end, like Blue Lock, but is that worth it? It's hard to say it is.
6/10, stop hurting me
10. Watari-Kun's ****** Is about to Collapse.. Ep.16
SUMMARY
Getting dumped is never fun. Watari's questions are justified as Ishihara didn't explain her reason for breaking up with him. Even more so when she's acting as if nothing happened around him.
Satsuki only adds to poor Watari's confusion. She is still in limbo about her feelings of Watari, but she is direct which, in my personal opinion, is an attractive trait. Uncertainty isn't however, so it would be best for Satsuki to make her decision.
I think Touki is on Satsuki's side. The advice he gave to Ishihara wasn't good as the distance between her and Watari will only strengthen the belief that she broke up with him. With Watari's heart swaying it could give Satsuki the chance she needs to snag Watari.
Dang, I was just talking about the netorare route elsewhere but I never thought it would come from this anime. Of course, that isn't the case, but I can see why he was about to go through with Satsuki's proposal. I respect his final decision however, he can be much more mature than I expected.
The scenes between Ishihara and Watari are the exact reason I say the distancing is a bad idea, terrible even. He could move on in that time, even start dating someone new and her return will seem unfair and strange afterwards because of it.
6.5/10, what's your game here Touki?
11. Hands Off: Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun. Ep.3
SUMMARY
It's Koyo vs Aoba! He's better man than I, though I respect his dedication to his future.
We had some crazy angles in this episodes, some giving the illusion of something else, others getting real hot and close like Koyo being pulled in by Aoba.
I find both Koyo and Aoba funny here given their different goals at the moment. Koyo is a saint just there to help some athletes remain healthy, and an absolute behemoth in mental fortitude. I think if Aoba came forward and said she just wanted a boyfriend then Koyo may consider it, though I doubt he would date any of the girls given what is at stake.
6.5/10, Izumi may be a watcher
12. Tales of Wedding Rings Season 2. Ep.3
SUMMARY
Alright ladies and gooners, before the episode starts place your bets! Does he finally do it? Or does he find a way out once again? I'm 100 in that he finds a way out. Now onto the episode...
STOP! STop! Pause. I have to write this down. This could become my next hate watch. This is my problem with this anime. How many times do we express the importance of the relationship between Satou and the girls but then get scenes like Satou being too scared to just do that, and now Massa saying she doesn't even like the guy. If they cop out and make it so the relationship with just Krystal matters then I will put this with Rent a GF levels of bad. Then again, this could be their relationship, there's nothing saying that it has to be physical after all.
Apart from my frustration with Satou and the other girls, it was funny to see Satou tackle Krystal. I would have been fine with it if we didn't completely back out of it all! What is it with the hesitance in this anime that spouts the power of closeness. Good lord just do it with Krystal and move on.
The best part of this episode was Nefritis and Granart. Nefritis reassuring Granart and finding the information that it may be possible for her to use magic was something that Granart needed and I enjoyed the two getting closer together. With that said, if we replace the relationship power needed by siphoning it from Yuri relationships amongst the girls, than this is the greatest anime of all time.
6/10, where's my money
D: Do Not Recommend
Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.
F: Bad
Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
